Vaping in Movies

Bad guys and good guys alike have smoked in movies for decades.  Recently, electronic alternatives have popped up and we’re obviously pretty happy about that.  We’ve compiled a list of characters in films and TV who hit the vape. RipTide hasn’t made it to the big screen YET.  But settle in, grab the popcorn, and put on any one of these movies or shows to get your vape / screen combo on:

  1. O’Shea Jackson Jr. in Ingrid Goes West

Ingrid Goes West is a basically Black Mirror in chick-flick form. This dark comedy drama follows Ingrid, a mentally unstable young woman who befriends a social media influencer she is obsessed with. While Ingrid is all kinds of crazy, her landlord/love interest, Dan Pinto, is a charismatic and chill dorky dude who loves Batman and vaping. Good combo in my opinion.

2. Tuppence Middleton in Sense8

Netflix’s Sense8 is a sci-fi drama series that follows the lives of 8 strangers who are emotionally and mentally linked. Tuppence Middleton plays Riley, an Icelandic DJ who often vapes in contemplation. She also shares her vape with other characters including Doona Bae’s Sun Bak. Her setup might be recognizable to vape hobbyists out there:

3. Rachel McAdams in True Detective Season 2

First off, I love True Detective….Season 1…one of the most incredible shows I’ve ever scene.  Season 2….not so much. In Season 2, Rachel McAdams plays Detective Ani Bezzerides, an agent who drinks and gambles a bit too much. At least she’s not smoking!  Too bad Detective Ray Velcoro doesn’t follow her lead.

4. Billions

Billions has seamlessly integrated vaping into the lifestyle of its characters. The TV drama series follows Charles Rhoades, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and billionaire hedge fund manager, Bobby Axelrod. Vapes are just omnipresent accessories on the show- pretty much everyone vapes.

5. Dennis Quaid in Beneath the Darkness

In this horror thriller, Quaid plays Vaughn Ely, a local mortician turned murderer, who enjoys his e-cig. If you’re in the mood for a creepy thriller with plenty of vaping, then this is the movie for you.

With e-cig and vape devices being shown more in media, we’re excited to see what other products might be featured in upcoming productions. We’re hoping we’ll get to see RipTide hitting the silver screen sooner than later.

Any actors you want to see vaping Riptide?  Charlize Theron? Pitt himself? DiCaprio?
